In its report of 27 January 2015, the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) approved the retrofit concepts submitted by KKM on 30 June 2014. The requirements detailed in the ENSI report are based on the concepts submitted in summer 2014.

The ENSI report confirms that safety at KKM meets high standards. The measures approved by the ENSI will further increase the safety margin and robustness of systems for the remaining five years of operation.

KKM will satisfy the requirements and start implementing the retrofit measures immediately. BKW is still anticipating the cost of the retrofits to be in line with the figure announced in summer 2014 of 15 million Swiss francs.
