Sunrise has the best mobile network and is breaking all the records!
- Sunrise comes top in extensive mobile network test conducted by Europe’s leading telecom journal connect, overtaking Swisscom for first time
- Sunrise achieves highest score ever in a connect mobile network test and is first to be rated ‘OUTSTANDING’ in a network test
- Sunrise has best mobile network and fastest mobile Internet in Switzerland and in the DACH region
- Sunrise celebrates network’s success together with customers and colleagues
“Even though self-praise is not our thing, this is simply an amazing achievement by our network department. Thanks to continuous investment and our constant focus on quality, we have now secured first place. Sunrise has the best mobile network – not least because we’ve listened to our customers and their feedback. And we’re celebrating that with our customers,” says a delighted Olaf Swantee, CEO of Sunrise, in response to the top rating in the connect test.
Competitors outclassed
Sunrise has been steadily bolstering the quality of its mobile network for years. Its mobile network was already rated ‘VERY GOOD’ in the past two years, and ranked as the best network in the ‘mobile phone calls’ category. But unlike its competitors, Sunrise has not rested on its laurels, and thanks to its constant improvements over the past three years it has now outstripped all of them in the overall rating.
Sunrise has extended its lead in the ‘mobile phone calls’ category to 10 points, and also leaves its rivals standing when it comes to fast mobile Internet (‘data’) where the next best competitor trails 8 points behind. It also comes out on top in individual categories, offering the best mobile network and the fastest mobile Internet in cities and on transfer routes, and among the leaders on trains. All in all, it’s simply the best mobile network in Switzerland!
With the highest connect score ever recorded (951 points out of a possible 1,000), Sunrise is the new record holder. Never before in the 23 years of connect network tests has a mobile network in Germany, Austria or Switzerland achieved such a high score. Fittingly, the Sunrise mobile network, which was previously rated ‘VERY GOOD’, became the first to receive the highest accolade – the ‘OUTSTANDING’ rating (950 points or more).
The renowned telecom journal connect emphasized Sunrise’s top position, summarizing its position as follows: “Both in the voice and data measurements, Sunrise achieves excellent results. Compared to the previous year, the operator improved in both categories. Due to a distinct gain in points in data communications, Sunrise brings in the overall win. Interestingly, the gap to last year‘s winner is quite wide – although Swisscom achieved very good results this time as well. For the first time in the connect mobile network test for Germany, Austria and Switzerland we have to award the grade ‘outstanding’“.

Investment and focus on quality
It’s not by chance that Sunrise has the best mobile network in Switzerland. Since the launch of the network program together with technology partner Huawei in 2012, Sunrise has invested over CHF 1.3 billion in expanding and upgrading its network. The vast majority of this has gone into the mobile network. This investment and the strict focus on the best network quality have increasingly paid off in the last few years. The historical lead of the former state monopoly has been shrinking year after year, a fact underscored by the last two connect tests as well the largest independent customer surveys conducted by Bilanz Telekom Ratings and Sunrise’s own research.
Customer tests confirm connect test ranking
Speed test apps such as Ookla Speedtest or OpenSignal are among the most popular smartphone apps. Customers of all providers use them to measure their actual mobile Internet speeds to see whether their providers are delivering what they promise. Sunrise was also best in these crowd-based mobile network tests, boasting the top Ookla Speedtest results for more than 5 months.
Sunrise celebrates its best-ever mobile network
From the way Sunrise is celebrating this distinction, it’s clear that they aren't resting on their laurels – even though their network is clearly the best. Sunrise's top management and customers are celebrating at lunchtime today (starting at 11 a.m.) with light refreshments in Zurich (Sunrise center, Bahnhofsplatz 4) and Geneva (Sunrise stand, Cornavin railway station, main hall).
Customers can also join Sunrise for refreshments in Winterthur (Sunrise stand at railway station), Basel (Sunrise stand at railway station) and Bern (Sunrise center in railway station).
