Patric Olivier Zbinden joins the Swiss Executive Committee

Basel, 16 March 2017. New managers for three divisions of Corporate Division Switzerland. Urs Bienz, who was previously Head of Operations & IT, is taking over Finance & Risk. Clemens Markstein, who was previously Head of Product Management Corporate Clients (PM Corporate Clients), is moving to Operations & IT. New to the Executive Committee is Patric Olivier Zbinden, who was previously Head of Product Management Group Life He is taking over the PM Corporate Clients division.

With this new appointment and the two moves, the Swiss Executive Committee is once again complete. This came about after the former Head of Finance & Risk, Carsten Stolz, was appointed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Corporate Executive Committee of the Baloise Group on 1 May. "The fact that we were able to find a suitable internal candidate for the Swiss Executive Committee in the form of Patric Olivier Zbinden within a short period of time speaks for our systematic succession planning," says Michael Müller, CEO of Basler Switzerland. “Patric Olivier Zbinden has extensive expertise well beyond the area of corporate client business. He is familiar with Basler from a variety of perspectives, due to his long-standing service and leadership experience and the wide range of roles he has undertaken within the company.”

The two moves within the Executive Committee are a deliberate strategy by Basler to inject new momentum. “New roles lead to new ideas and make Basler even more agile”, says Michael Müller. “It is indicative of our culture that two colleagues from the Executive Committee are prepared to embrace new business areas. I am expecting an additional boost in momentum and drive for the implementation of the Simply Safe strategic programme as a result of the three new appointments.”

The changes in the Swiss Executive Committee will come into effect on 1 May 2017.
