Myriad Enhances its Social Mobile Messaging Portfolio through the Acquisition of RCS assets from Metaswitch

ZURICH, Switzerland – 29 April 2013 – Myriad Group AG (SIX: MYRN), the company creating and connecting communities across mobile and TV, today announces that it has completed the acquisition of RCS products and intellectual property from Metaswitch. The acquisition enables Myriad to extend and enhance the social messaging portfolio it provides to network operators with support for RCS communities.
RCS represents the next stage in the evolution of IP communications for network operators. RCS will support application experiences that incorporate instant messaging, live video sharing and file transfer across any device, on any network, with anyone in their mobile address book.
Significantly, the application features supported by RCS will be automatically provisioned to users. Like voice and SMS they will ‘just be there’ without the user having to take action. As a result, the user’s messaging experience will be more intuitive, making feature discovery easier.
For Myriad and its network operator customers, RCS is a compelling business proposition, enhancing the ubiquity and reach of easy to use services, and opening up further revenue opportunities from advanced personal communications.
