Ypsomed is committed to equal pay

Burgdorf, 23.02.2018, 7.00 a.m. – February 24th marks Equal Pay Day in Switzerland. Ypsomed already had Equal Pay Day on January 18th and is strongly committed to further reduce inequality in pay between men and women. Cross-divisional analyses and individual case studies ensure equal pay in the company over the long term. 

Ypsomed has its wage models and salary distribution analysed throughout the company on an annual basis. This allows inequalities in pay in the divisions to be identified and corrected. In addition, individual cases are examined at regular intervals. Ypsomed's female employees, who perform the same work as their male counterparts, have the same experience, contribute the same, but do not receive the same pay, are specifically upgraded to the same level of pay as their male colleagues.

Equal treatment and fairness towards Ypsomed's employees and each other is firmly anchored in the company's Code of Conduct and prohibits any form of discrimination. All employees, and managers in particular, are regularly trained in workshops and seminars on the Code of Conduct and sensitised to the issue of equal pay.

Simon Michel, CEO of Ypsomed, is committed to equal pay at Ypsomed and in the Swiss economy: "Not only at Ypsomed, but at every company, the goal must be that the Equal Pay Day already is on January 1st. Inequality in pay should no longer be an issue. I do not see any reason why the same kind of work with the same experience should not be equally rewarded."

This year, Equal Pay Day in Switzerland is on February 24th. On a national average, women work for free until this date, while men are paid for work of equal value and experience as from January 1st.
