As part of ARGE ZUGO, Implenia is taking on the Zugersee Ost infrastructure work for SBB – Improved access to the Gotthard tunnel | Total order volume of around CHF 100 million

Dietlikon, 28 February 2019 – SBB is awarding expansion work for the conversion to twin track between Zug Oberwil and Walchwil and the renovation of the Zug-Arth-Goldau line to ARGE ZUGO. The joint venture consists of Marti AG (lead company), Walo Bertschinger AG, Anlinker AG and Implenia, with a share of 20% each. Porr Suisse AG and Frutiger AG also have a 10% stake in ARGE ZUGO. Implenia is therefore receiving an order volume of around CHF 20 million.

Over a length of 1.7 km, the current single-track line is being dismantled and replaced by a new twin track. Seven tunnels and around 70 civil-engineering structures (such as bridges, retaining walls and culverts) are also being repaired on the line between Zug and Arth-Goldau. ARGE ZUGO’s work also includes safety measures to counter risks posed by nature, such as the building of levees and safety nets. In the future, trains will be able to cross on a track of almost 2.2 km. This will increase the capacity of long-distance services on the Gotthard route as well as regional services and will equip the infrastructure for decades of rail services.

Implenia will bring its proven expertise in infrastructure construction to bear in the joint venture. The preliminary work will begin as early as March 2019, with the main work following from June 2019 to late 2020.
