SAFEGUARDS | Electrical & Electronics NO. 060/19

On February 19, 2019 the European Commission adopted Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/290, which aims to harmonize the practices applied by Member States for the registration and reporting of producers of electrical and electronic equipment under Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), thus reducing the administrative burden for producers operating at Union level. The format for registration and reporting should be used by all producers, including producers supplying EEE by means of distance communication or, where appointed, by authorized representatives, and by all registers drawn up in the Member States pursuant to Article 16(1) of Directive 2012/19/EU. This regulation will apply from January 1, 2020.
This regulation specifies different registration formats for producers and authorized representatives.
The table below summarizes the key information elements required for registration of a producer and an authorized representative in a Member State. For full details please refer to Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2019/290.
