SGS: China Releases an Updated National Standard GB/T 4146 1-2020 Textiles-Man-made Fibres Part 1: Generic Names Dienstag, 23. Februar 2021 - 01:00

The Standardization Administration of China issued its national standard GB/T 4146.1-2020. Being included in China’s No. 22 announcement on the newly approved national standards in 2020, this new standard will replace the previous version, GB/T 4146.1-2009. The new national standard will become effective on May 1, 2021.
Scope
This standard is applicable to generic names for all kinds of man-made fibres.
Definition for man-made fibre
With the exception of natural fibres, fibre obtained by a manufacturing process.
Generic names
This is the name to be used for the fibre whose attributes are described under the heading Distinguishing attribute in Table1 of this standard. The use of this name shall be limited to those fibres that contain not more than 15% by mass Of property-enhancing additives prior to spinning (no limit is placed upon the proportion of additives that are not property enhanced). The generic name may also apply to a man-made fibre which results from a manufacturing process that can confer a distinguishing attribute.
Main Technical Changes
Compared with GB/T 4146.1-2009, GB/T 4146.1-2020 contains many revisions.
What are added include:
- Term and definitions for man-made fibres
- The generic names, code, distinguishing attribute and chemical formulae for 11 kinds of man-made fibres, including modacrylic, chitosan, melamine, protein, trivinyl, polybenzimiazol, elastomultiester, polyamidoester, silicon carbide, polyhydroxy, polyarylate.
- Name of the bicomponent fibres
What are revised include:
- The vinylal can be divided into two categories, namely, acetalization and non-acetalization, the acetalized vinylal is short of Chinese “维纶”.
- Table 2 and table 3 of the 2009 edition are adjusted to Appendix D and Appendix E of the new edition respectively.
