Traffic figures

1,593,672 passengers were handled at Zurich Airport in August (+119.7% vs. previous year). Local passengers increased by 98.3% and transfer passengers increased by 227.8%. The transfer rate, which was at 16.8% last August is at 25.1% in the month under review.
Compared to the corresponding month in the year 2019, passenger numbers are 48.8% lower in the reporting month.

Air traffic movements

In August, air traffic movements increased by 49.5% to 16’228 versus previous year. Compared to August 2019 air traffic movements decreased by 35.7%.

Traffic ratios

The average seat load factor saw an increase of +16.3 percentage points to 74.8% and the average passenger per movement figure increased to 127.0 (94.4 previous year).

Commercial Activities 

Total turnover in August was CHF 34.9m (+59.1% vs previous year). The increase divides into 101.7% for airside and 29.3% for landside.
