| Transforming the future of automotive mobility |
Engineers in the automotive industry are under pressure - from looming regulatory deadlines to go “all-electric”, changing consumer preferences and the transformation to autonomous driving. To support this transformation, it is our role at ams OSRAM to bring technology clarity to the decisions the automotive engineers must make.
Just recently, at our US Automotive Symposium, we discussed these topics with automotive engineers. There is a common understanding that on the road to autonomous driving, the classic driving experience becomes a more holistic mobility experience. The drivers of the future will have different expectations of comfort and connectivity in their cars. Optical solutions will play a decisive part in this future, and ams OSRAM is developing the technologies needed by engineering teams to make it happen.
For a long time, optical technologies provided essential functions for headlights, turn signals and in-cabin lighting. From the driver's perspective, however, the engine, chassis and driving experience came first. Today, with electrification and automated driving moving to the forefront, the user experience focuses on safety and comfort, but also on connectivity, entertainment and increased interaction with the vehicle's functions and features.
This change in users’ attitudes toward their vehicles is putting optical technologies front and center. They allow cars to communicate with their environment, take over driving functions, monitor passengers and provide new experiences in terms of well-being, comfort and entertainment. The combination of smart lighting and sensing will shape the automotive mobility of tomorrow – whether through dynamic forward lighting, ambient lighting, in-cabin sensing, LiDAR for automated vehicles, intelligent signaling, advanced displays or smart surfaces. ams OSRAM plays a crucial role in this transformation. As trusted partner serving the entire value chain of optical solutions, we enable our automotive customers to develop game-changing applications. The ability of our advanced sensing and lighting technologies to capture and communicate with the environment makes ams OSRAM a key enabler for new mobility features. Light makes the environment visible; sensors make it safer. Their combination adds real value to road safety and comfort – inside and outside the cabin. |

ams OSRAM’s new OSLON® Optimal is the next generation of LEDs for horticulture lighting applications with a 1mm² chip inside. The small 3mm x 3mm footprint allows for extremely clustering. The OSLON® Optimal strikes a perfect balance of performance and cost along with proven robustness, high reliability and long lifetime. Flexible and efficient designs for professional top- and inter-lighting solutions, and vertical farming designs. Beside Hyper Red (660nm) and Far Red (730nm), now also available in Deep Blue (450nm) and Horti White. |
| The OSLON® Black Flat X offers LED devices with the highest efficiency in the ams ORAM LED portfolio. This makes it the perfect light source for standard forward lighting applications where system cost is a major consideration. The pad geometry of the widely used OSLON® Black Flat product platform was further optimized to allow for excellent thermal conditions, while the established, outstanding contrast of the package concept is a family feature. Now we are introducing the final family members for halogen replacement coprising 4 and 5 chips. |
| The new OSLON® UV 6060 complements ams OSRAM’s high-power UV-C LED portfolio for purification applications. It provides market-leading wall-plug efficiency at the highest germicidal effectiveness of 265 nm. Combined with the extremely powerful typical optical output of 100 mW out of a single die source and the compact package design it enriches any application which requires UV-C radiation. The OSLON® UV 6060 is optimal for consumer applications like sanitizing surfaces to even industrial applications like upper air treatment in public spaces.
