Der Verwaltungsrat der HUBER+SUHNER AG hat an seiner heutigen Sitzung beschlossen, der Generalversammlung 2014 den bisherigen Vizepräsidenten Erich Walser zur Wahl als Präsident des Verwaltungsrats vorzuschlagen. Der amtierende Präsident Dr. David W. Syz scheidet gemäss dem Organisationsreglement altersbedingt aus seinem Amt. Insgesamt gehörte er 22 Jahre dem Verwaltungsrat an, von 1987 bis 1999 als Mitglied, seit 2004 als Vorsitzender. Der designierte Nachfolger Erich Walser ist Ökonom und Jurist und seit 1979 bei den Helvetia Versicherungen, St. Gallen, tätig. Seit 2001 ist er Mitglied des Helvetia Verwaltungsrats, seit 2003 als dessen Präsident. Dem Verwaltungsrat von HUBER+SUHNER gehört Erich Walser seit 2004 an.
Der Verwaltungsrat wird der Generalversammlung neu die Wirtschaftswissenschaftlerin Professor Dr. Monika Bütler zur Wahl vorschlagen. Die 52-jährige Schweizerin ist geschäftsführende Direktorin des Schweizerischen Instituts für Empirische Wirtschaftsforschung (SEW) der Universität St. Gallen. Seit 2004 ist Monika Bütler dort ordentliche Professorin für Volkswirtschaftslehre. Zuvor lehrte sie von 1999 – 2004 an der Universität Lausanne und von 1997 – 2001 an der Universität Tilburg in den Niederlanden. Vor dem Lizenziat und dem Doktortitel in Wirtschaftswissenschaften hatte Monika Bütler ein Diplom in Mathematik und Physik erworben. Sie ist seit 2010 Mitglied des Bankrats der Schweizerischen Nationalbank und seit 2013 Mitglied des Verwaltungsrats der Schindler Holding AG.
Ebenfalls neu zur Wahl in den Verwaltungsrat wird CEO Urs Kaufmann vorgeschlagen werden, der seit 1994 in der HUBER+SUHNER Gruppe tätig ist. 1997 bis 2000 war er Geschäftsbereichsleiter und Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung. 2001 wurde er Mitglied der Konzernleitung und 2002 deren Vorsitzender. Er soll das Amt des Delegierten des Verwaltungsrats wahrnehmen.

At today's meeting, the Board of Directors of HUBER+SUHNER decided to propose, to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in 2014, previous Deputy Chairman Erich Walser for election as Chairman of the Board of Directors. The current chairman, Dr. David W. Syz, is retiring from his office for age-related reasons in accordance with the corporate bylaws. He served on the Board of Directors for a total of 22 years, from 1987 to 1999 as a member, and as chairman since 2004. The designated successor Erich Walser is an economist and a lawyer and has been employed by Helvetia Insurance, St. Gallen, since 1979. Since 2001, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Helvetia, and its chairman since 2003. Erich Walser has been a member of the Board of Directors of HUBER+SUHNER since 2004.
The Board of Directors will propose to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders the economistProfessor Dr. Monika Bütler for election as new member. The 52-year-old Swiss citizen is managing director of the Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research (SEW) at the University of St. Gallen. Since 2004, Ms Monika Bütler has held a post as full professor of economics and public policy there. Prior to that, she taught at the University of Lausanne from 1999 to 2004 and at the University of Tilburg in The Netherlands from 1997 to 2001. Before obtaining her licentiate and doctorate in economics, Monika Bütler acquired a diploma in mathematics and physics. Since 2010, she has been a member of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank and since 2013 a member of the Board of Directors of Schindler Holding Ltd.
A further new proposal for election to the Board of Directors is CEO Urs Kaufmann who has been employed by the HUBER+SUHNER Group since 1994. He served as division head and member of management board from 1997 to 2000. In 2001, he became a member of executive group management and CEO in 2002. He is to assume the position as delegate of the Board of Directors.
