21.01.2014 06:45:00

After a weak third quarter, order intake increased again during the fourth quarter. Overall in 2013, the company generated an order intake of around CHF 684 million, corresponding to a drop of 9% compared with the previous year. The book-to-bill rate amounted to 0.95.

The slump in the solar sector was finally overcome during the 2013 financial year. However, in this market segment order intake and net sales diminished once again by around CHF 25 million. By contrast, the North American business of Fiber Optics division developed very positively, particularly due to roll-outs of fourth generation mobile communications Long-Term Evolution (LTE). The railway market and the automotive business also recorded a pleasing increase in net sales. This was accompanied by the acquisition of the American company Astrolab which was integrated very successfully into the Group and also contributed towards HUBER+SUHNER returning to a path of growth in the 2013 financial year.

Although the definitive operating results are not yet available, HUBER+SUHNER anticipates a significant improvement in income position and confirms the EBIT margin guidance of 6–9% (previous year 3.5%). The company will present the 2013 operating results at the media and analysts' conference on 11 March 2014.
