In August 2025, 3,266,710 passengers passed through Zurich Airport, corresponding to an increase of 5.5% compared to the previous year. More passengers traveled through Zurich Airport in August than ever before, surpassing the previous monthly record set in July.
In August, the number of local passengers was 2,292,111. Transfer passengers amounted to 29.7%, equal to 969,288 passengers. August is one of the busiest months due to summer holidays. Alongside the monthly all-time high, a new daily peak with 155,587 passengers occurred on 3 August (+40 passengers compared to 28 July 2025).
Year on year, air traffic movements increased by 4.8% to 25,279 take offs and landings. The average number of passengers per movement increased to 145.9 (+0.9% vs. previous year). The average seat load factor was at 84.8% (-0.4 percentage points vs. previous year).
A total of 34,578 tonnes of freight were transported at Zurich Airport during the month of August. This led to an increase of 2.8% in freight volume compared to last year.
