Julius Baer announces new leadership for its home market Switzerland
Marc Blunier and Alain Krüger will jointly assume leadership of Julius Baer’s market Switzerland as of 1 January 2026, succeeding Patrick Prinz, who has decided to leave the Bank. Alain Krüger has, in addition, been appointed as Location Head Geneva.

Zurich, 14 November 2025 – Bank Julius Baer is realigning the management of its market Switzerland, with Marc Blunier and Alain Krüger set to take over responsibility as co-heads on 1 January 2026. After six years at Julius Baer, the current market head of Switzerland, Patrick Prinz, has decided to leave Julius Baer at the end of 2025 for personal reasons.

As the new co-heads of market Switzerland, Marc Blunier and Alain Krüger will be responsible for the domestic teams handling local businesses across eleven locations in German- and French-speaking Switzerland, as well as the implementation of Julius Baer’s strategic market initiatives.

Marc Blunier has more than 30 years’ experience at Swiss and international financial institutions. He has been working for Bank Julius Baer for six years, initially as Head Investment Promotion & Solutions and, since May 2025, as Global Head Offering Management & Development. Previously, he held various management positions in the investment area of UBS Switzerland over a ten-year period.

Alain Krüger, who joins Julius Baer on 1 January 2026, is a recognised expert with over 25 years’ experience in client business, focusing on ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNW) and family offices. Based in Geneva since 2013, he was Head UHNW and Family Office Services for French-speaking Switzerland at UBS from 2013 to 2020. Prior to joining Julius Baer, he was responsible for the coverage of UHNW and family office clients at Goldman Sachs in Switzerland.

Thomas Frauenlob, Co-Head Region Western Markets & Switzerland at Julius Baer, said: „With Alain Krüger, we have gained a distinguished banking professional as co-head of our home market, and, at the same time, have been able to promote Marc Blunier, a proven leader from our own ranks. This joint leadership brings together complementary strengths – both in terms of expertise, and local connections and experience. This will give us added momentum to grow in the Swiss market and provide our clients with first-class advice and services. Our thanks go to Patrick Prinz, who has held various roles at Julius Baer since 2019, and, most recently, as Head Switzerland, for his significant contribution to strengthening our position within our domestic market.“

Alain Krüger also takes over local leadership of the Bank in Geneva
Bank Julius Baer has also appointed Alain Krüger as Location Head Geneva. Sacha Bodenehr, who has held this role since January 2023, will take up the position of Head Business Management Geneva. He will also act as Alain Krüger’s deputy locally.

Thomas Frauenlob said: „We would like to thank Sacha Bodenehr for his leadership responsibilities and important contribution to our successful business activities and presence in Geneva over the last three years. We look forward to continuing working with him.“

Geneva is a key location for Julius Baer, both for its home market Switzerland and as a hub for its international operations. The Bank currently employs around 340 staff locally. A 15-month refurbishment project at Rue Pierre-Fatio 7 – one of two Julius Baer locations in the city – was completed in October 2025; a further commitment by the Bank to Geneva, an important financial centre in Switzerland.
