Ypsomed receives the Red Dot Design Award 2026 for YpsoLoop

Burgdorf, 08.07.2026, 7:00 a.m. – Ypsomed has been honored with the renowned Red Dot Award in the Product Design category for its new YpsoLoop autoinjector platform. YpsoLoop combines recyclability with user-friendliness in an innovative platform concept. The jury praised the design, stating: "With its precise form, intuitive handling, and sustainable material choice, YpsoLoop sets new standards in responsible product design."

Following several international industry awards, the jury of the renowned Red Dot Award has now also recognized the platform's innovative design and engineering.

"This award reinforces our commitment to combining design, functionality, and sustainability in a consistent way," says Ulrike Bauer, Chief Business Officer of Ypsomed. "With YpsoLoop, we have developed a new generation of autoinjectors that meets the needs of people with chronic conditions while addressing the requirements of our pharmaceutical partners. The platform combines intuitive and safe handling with a product design that is consistently aligned with the principles of a circular economy."

Designed for the circular economy

YpsoLoop is the world's first autoinjector platform specifically designed for circularity and recyclability. The device consists of two assemblies made from mono-material plastics that can be easily separated, enabling high-quality material recycling. The platform has also been designed for automated disassembly and optimized recycling, allowing the materials used to be returned to the recycling stream.

Its material-efficient design and the use of ISCC PLUS-certified biobased plastics significantly reduce the product's carbon footprint per device compared with conventional autoinjectors. At the same time, the platform remains fully compatible with existing manufacturing and supply chains. This enables pharmaceutical companies to implement more sustainable solutions without changing their manufacturing processes.

Designed for simple and safe selfcare

In addition to its sustainable design, user-friendliness was a key focus throughout the development process. The integrated ClickGuide technology provides users with continuous audible feedback throughout the injection. This helps ensure the correct hold time and reduces the risk of removing the device too early. An ergonomically designed protective cap also makes the device easier to open, particularly for people with limited dexterity. These features can help pharmaceutical companies reduce training requirements, promote correct device use, and strengthen patients' confidence in self-injection.
