GF to propose Ton Büchner for election as new Chairman at the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting 2027
07/10/2026 - 07:00 (Central European Time)

At the upcoming Annual Shareholders’ Meeting in April 2027, the Board of Directors of GF will propose Ton Büchner (1965) for election as its new Chairman, succeeding Yves Serra.

After more than 35 years with GF, including 11 years as President and CEO (2008-2019) and seven years as Chairman of the Board of Directors (2020-2027), Yves Serra (1953) will not stand for re-election at the upcoming Annual Shareholders’ Meeting on 14 April 2027 due to having reached the age limit.

Ton Büchner, a dual Swiss-Dutch citizen, joined the GF Board of Directors in April 2026. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Prime Site AG since 2020 and as a member of the Board of Directors of Novartis AG since 2016. He was Chairman of Burckhardt Compression AG from 2020 until December 2025. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of AkzoNobel NV from 2012 to 2017 and as Chief Executive Officer of Sulzer AG from 2007 to 2011.

Yves Serra said: “Ton Büchner brings a wealth of experience and a superb track record as both CEO and Chairman of major listed companies in Switzerland and in the Netherlands. We are delighted to propose him as the new Chairman of Georg Fischer AG at the upcoming Shareholders’ Meeting in April 2027.”
