Martin Buyle neuer CEO der Orell Füssli Gruppe

Zürich, 6. Juni 2014 – Der Verwaltungsrat der Orell Füssli Holding AG hat Martin Buyle zum neuen CEO der Orell Füssli Gruppe ernannt. Er wird seine Tätigkeit am 1. Oktober 2014 aufnehmen.

Martin Buyle verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung in der Führung von Industrieunternehmen des Mittelstands. Die letzten fünf Jahre war er Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung der Jakob Müller AG, einem international tätigen Schweizer Textilmaschinenbauer, davon die letzten beiden Jahre in der Funktion als CEO. Zuvor war er vier Jahre lang in Deutschland als Geschäftsführer der Kramer-Werke GmbH tätig, einem Hersteller von Kompaktbaumaschinen. Mehrjährige Engagements in der internationalen Strategieberatung bei Roland Berger Strategy Consultants sowie als Entwicklungsingenieur in einer Division der Rolls-Royce Power Systems runden seine berufliche Erfahrung ab.

Martin Buyle hat das Studium des Maschinenbaus an der Technischen Universität Wien abgeschlossen und an der IESE Business School in Barcelona einen Abschluss als Master of Business Administration (MBA) absolviert. Er ist 40 Jahre alt und österreichischer Staatsangehöriger aus Dornbirn, Vorarlberg.

Der Verwaltungsrat der Orell Füssli Holding AG freut sich, in Martin Buyle eine Persönlichkeit mit einer breiten operativen und strategischen Erfahrung aus verschiedenen erfolgreichen industriellen Aktivitäten gefunden zu haben.

Wie bereits kommuniziert, wird Michel Kunz nach über vier Jahren als CEO der Orell Füssli Gruppe das Unternehmen Ende 2014 verlassen. Unter seiner Leitung hat Orell Füssli mit dem Joint Venture der Buchhandelssparte mit der Thalia Bücher AG die Voraussetzungen geschaffen, um im sich rasant verändernden Buchmarkt zu bestehen, und bei der deutschen Tochtergesellschaft Atlantic Zeiser wurde zusammen mit dem neuen Management die Trendwende eingeleitet. Der Verwaltungsrat dankt Michel Kunz für sein grosses Engagement und seinen Einsatz für Orell Füssli in einer schwierigen Zeit. Er wünscht ihm für seine berufliche und persönliche Zukunft alles Gute.

Orell Füssli betreibt als diversifizierte Industrie- und Handelsgruppe die Kerngeschäfte Banknoten- und Sicherheitsdruck, Industriesysteme zur Individualisierung von Wertdokumenten und Markenprodukten und den Buchhandel. Der Buchverlag bildet den traditionsreichen Ursprung des Unternehmens – seit 1519. Orell Füssli erzielt mit rund 1'000 Mitarbeitenden an Standorten in 10 Ländern einen Umsatz von rund CHF 300 Mio. und ist an der Schweizer Börse kotiert.

Martin Buyle appointed new CEO of the Orell Füssli

Zurich, June 6, 2014 – The Board of Directors of Orell Füssli Holding Ltd has appointed Martin Buyle as the new CEO of the Orell Füssli Group. He will take up his position at Orell Füssli on October 1, 2014.

Martin Buyle has many years of experience in the management of industrial SMEs. He has been a member of the executive board of Jakob Müller AG, a Swiss textile machinery manufacturer operating internationally, for the past five years, for the last two of them in the position of CEO. For four years prior to that he was General Manager of Kramer-Werke GmbH in Germany, a manufacturer of compact construction machinery. Several years engaged in international strategy consulting services with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and as a development engineer in a division of Rolls-Royce Power Systems round off his professional CV. 

Martin Buyle completed his studies in mechanical engineering at Vienna University of Technology and graduated with an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the IESE Business School in Barcelona. He is 40 years old and an Austrian national from Dornbirn, Vorarlberg. 

The Board of Directors of Orell Füssli Holding Ltd is delighted to have found someone with wide-ranging operating and strategic experience in a variety of successful industrial activities in the person of Martin Buyle. 

As already announced, after more than four years as CEO of the Orell Füssli Group, Michel Kunz will leave the company at the end of 2014. Under his leadership Orell Füssli has created the preconditions to hold its own successfully in the rapidly changing book trade through the joint venture of its book retailing operations with Thalia Bücher AG, and at German subsidiary Atlantic Zeiser the turnaround has been initiated together with the new management. The Board of Directors wishes to thank Michel Kunz for his great commitment and his efforts on Orell Füssli’s behalf during a difficult period for the company, and wishes him all the best for his professional and personal future.
