At Glencore we are proud of the progress we have made in integrating sustainability throughout our business. This month's focus is on our engagement with the communities living close to our operations:
Case Study 1 In this case study we look at the measures we put in place when an asset has to reduce its number of employees. We always take the opportunity to relocate affected employees at our other operations. Where this is not possible, we provide counselling and assistance in finding work elsewhere. Read more
Case Study 2: At our Raglan mine in northern Quebec we have reached agreement with a number of Inuit partners for employment, training, local procurement and environmental management. The agreement respects traditional practices and ensures that the Inuit directly benefit from the socio-economic opportunities generated by the mine. Read more
Case Study 3: In the DRC, our copper mine has an active programme in place to support local enterprise. This includes transforming the wooden packaging used by the mine into chairs, tables and windows. Read more
Case Study 4: Our Agricultural Products business has established a strong knowledge sharing platform from which best practice is being shared across the company. Read more
Our YouTube channel hosts a number of short films that detail our environmental, health and community activities as well as providing an insight into how a mine operates.
